The No. 4 Texas Longhorns delivered a statement win Thursday night, pulling away in the fourth quarter to defeat No. 5 LSU 77–64 at the Moody Center.
Freshman guard Aaliyah Crump provided a major spark off the bench, scoring 16 points — 11 of them in a single quarter — to help Texas flip the game late. Madison Booker led the Longhorns with 18 points, while Teya Sidberry added 10. Rori Harmon chipped in 11 points and six steals, becoming Texas’ all-time leader in steals with 351, surpassing Linda Waggoner’s long-standing program record. Harmon already holds the school record for career assists.
The victory was a measure of revenge for Texas (22–2, 7–2 SEC), which had fallen 70–65 at LSU earlier this season. It also extended the Longhorns’ home winning streak to 39 games — tied with TCU for the longest active streak in the nation — and kept them within one game of first place in the SEC. Texas is now 8–2 against ranked opponents this season.
The game was tightly contested early. Texas shot 51% in a fast-paced first half that featured five lead changes in a two-minute stretch of the second quarter. Booker scored 12 points before the break, while Crump added 11. The Longhorns carried a narrow four-point lead into the fourth quarter after Justice Carlton scored Texas’ first seven points of the third period.
Texas seized control at the start of the final frame, opening with a decisive run that pushed the lead into double figures and stifled LSU’s offense. The Tigers (21–3, 7–3 SEC), who had won seven straight conference games after an 0–2 league start, were held well below their nation-leading scoring average of 98.9 points per game. Mikaylah Williams paced LSU with 20 points.
With the win, Texas further cemented its place among the nation’s elite and showcased its depth and defensive intensity in a crucial SEC matchup.
