The TCU women’s basketball team made history Sunday night, capturing its first-ever Big 12 Championship with a thrilling 64-59 victory over No. 2 seed Baylor.
In their first appearance in the conference title game, the Horned Frogs delivered under pressure at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City. Tournament MVP Haley Van Lith led the way with 20 points, including a clutch shot with 48 seconds remaining that helped seal the victory. The championship marks TCU’s first conference tournament title in 20 years. Both TCU and Baylor are expected to host opening-round NCAA tournament games on March 19.
The Horned Frogs entered the season with a 37-game losing streak against Baylor but pulled off a remarkable feat by beating the Bears three times this season—the first team to accomplish that in 18 years.
