The Baby Runz Biddie League kicked of this past weekend in Montclair NJ at Immaculate Conception HS. The league was created by Younglife Athletics, consisting of 6 teams from the Tri-state area including players from the Pennsylvania and Delaware are areas.  The league is split into to two divisions, Determined & Relentless, with six games slotted each Saturday for 4 weeks leading up to Championship weekend.

The idea came about as two parents were looking to fill a void after spending over a decade traveling the country, spending numerous hours in gyms, many miles traveled and memories that will last a lifetime with their own daughters who earned the opportunity to play on the collegiate level. From that experience, the Baby Runz was create - A platform for the younger cohort of little lady ballers to stand alone. It was more than basketball; the focus is personal growth, camaraderie, and building self-confidence to play the game they love in a fun, safe and competitive environment.

New York Gauchos

With a full slate of games set, it was a packed house and the energy in the gym was electric from start to finish. The girls were ready to go, the parents were in full cheer mode and the coaches were locked in. The games were full of action and competitive throughout the day, we had a few lopsided victories but the scores didn't negate the effort.

At days end the NY Gauchos, Younglife Atheltics and AL3 Elite set themselves apart and look to be early front runners. While the Baby Aces, although winless may be able to get back in the hunt this weekend and turn things around. The Paramus Spartans the youngest team in the league showed a lot of grit and never backed down, I'm looking forward to watching their growth. The NJ Raptors were impressive in their first game lose but are still a unknown as they were unavailable for their second game so the jury is still out.  With a very entertaining and competitive opening day we look forward to some key match ups in the weeks to come.

32' Amari Price / Younglife Athletics (AAU-Exodus NYC) had it going early and often showing tight handles, drive ability and the long ball. Leading scorer on opening day with 21.5 ppg and a single game high of 24pts. Her team finished 2-0 start and 1st place in the standings (Points).

31' Iyanna Davis / YoungLife Athletics (AAU -Riverside) played with force as she finished through contact, snatch rebounds for tough put backs and held down the paint on defense. She finished with 9.5ppg and a slew of rebounds to help secure first place.

31' Maleah Singletary / NY Gauchos physically imposing, yes I said it. She gave me Jerzy Robinson vibes as she attacked the paint with reckless abandonment, handle the rock om perimeter and showed touch from range, positioning her team in a close second place.

31' Lucy Valente / Baby Aces saved her best for last as she dropped 18pts in her 3rd game of the day. Speedy guard that handles well with both hands, quick change of directions and has a nice pull jump shot along with a consistent floater.  Her team finished 0-2 and currently hold 4th place.

32" Madison Bravo / AL3 Elite

The floor general for her squad, handling pressure defense and diming her teammates as she picked traps apart. Calling her own number when needed she avg. 7.5 ppg and multiple assist leading led her squad to a 2-0 and 3rd place going into week two.

32'  Lelani Bullicer/ NY Guachos

The little PG plays with a bit of flare and let it be known that she was in the building. Her quickness and ball handling created headaches and she had the 3 ball going. She scored 10ppg as her squad finished with a 2- 0 start and 2nd place after week one.
