The Wolfpack women's basketball team staged a dramatic comeback on Thursday night at Reynolds Coliseum.

Despite shooting poorly and falling behind by 10 points with just over four minutes remaining in regulation, the Pack refused to give up. The crowd rallied behind them as they chipped away at the Tar Heels' lead, but a three-point play by Carolina's Paulina Paris seemed to have sealed the game for the Heels.

However, the Wolfpack's full-court pressure defense finally kicked into gear, forcing turnovers and rushed shots. Jakia Brown-Turner hit a lucky 3-pointer that bounced high off the rim but still fell in, and then followed it up with a clutch 3-pointer that pulled the Pack to within one point.

UNC's Kayla McPherson missed a free throw with 17.4 seconds left, giving the Pack a chance to tie the game on a layup by Elissa Cunane just four seconds later. Cunane had a chance to win the game in regulation, but was contested at the rim by Carolina's Deja Kelly and missed the shot.

In overtime, the Tar Heels went cold, missing their first seven shots from the floor and failing to score a basket until there were only 20 seconds left in the period. The Wolfpack capitalized on the Heels' struggles, scoring 10 points in overtime to seal the improbable comeback victory.

The game was marked by UNC's 16 turnovers, which allowed the Pack to score a season-high 32 fast break points. It was a thrilling victory for the Wolfpack, and a reminder that anything can happen in sports when a team refuses to give up.
